Time and the Conways

The universe has a habit of making its own plans for us all; in our darker moods, taking control can seem dauntingly futile. However, a little perspective can go a long way. For this Dundee Rep Ensemble and the Lyceum co-production of JB Priestley's classic play, Time and the Conways, finding the calm in the eye of the storm is a bitter-sweet affair. In its exploration of the values and uncertainty of risk-taking and ambition, the play  is a tough but ultimately rewarding experience.

Hardeep Singh Kohli is a rare breed of comedian insofar as his act neither hinges upon nor hides from his cultural heritage. Political and cultural difficulties of the legacy of empire and migration are ever present, but Singh Kohli's work refuses to be defined by its conflicts, and instead reflects   a celebration of multiculturalism and also an optimism towards it.

Second Coming & Winter, Again
Scottish Dance at the Rep
20 - 23 February

Two very different pieces were performed by the international Scottish Dance Theatre at Dundee Rep in late February. The programme’s opener, Second Coming, featuring music by Paganini, Bach, Beethoven and Jasper Gahunia, was from the Angelino choreographer Victor Quijada, while the Norwegian Jo Strømgren designed the next offering, Winter, Again. Strømgren used voice-over for narrative purposes, as well as several Schubert songs.
